Zac or mälirri
Director & founder
Zac — also known by his Yolŋu name mälirri and skin name Bulung — is the founder and driving force behind One Blood Organisation. A filmmaker, storyteller, and cultural bridge-builder, malirri’s life purpose is to be in service to mob and help keep Indigenous Australian culture strong, seen, and respected. His passion & purpose also extends out of the borders of Australia & to all indigenous cultures of the earth.
After being welcomed into the Gurruwiwi family and adopted into Yolŋu kinship, Zac was gifted the name mälirri— a name that speaks to identity, responsibility, and connection to Yolŋu law and culture. With this came a message: to walk in deep service to indigenous people and to be in deep connection & service to Country.
Through his work behind the camera and in community, mälirri creates space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to tell their stories in their own voice. His filmmaking is grounded in listening, truth-telling, and honouring culture. Every project, every conversation, and every step forward with One Blood Organisation is led by that same purpose — to celebrate culture, share knowledge, and build real, respectful relationships between all peoples.
mälirri believes that story has the power to heal, connect, and transform.
Zelda Gurruwiwi is a proud elder from the galpu clan in Northeast Arnhem Land and a deeply respected cultural knowledge holder. As our Cultural Advisor, Zelda plays a vital role in guiding One Blood Organisation with cultural integrity, wisdom, and truth.
With generations of knowledge flowing through her, Zelda helps shape our direction, making sure that everything we do is grounded in respect, authenticity, and the guidance of mob. She advises on cultural protocols, story sharing, and the way we represent First Nations voices — always reminding us that culture is sacred, and it must be carried with care.
Her connection to Country, to spirit, and to community is at the heart of our work. We are honoured to walk alongside her.
